Individual tour SLOVENIAN ALPS

AROUND THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE ALPS   10 days/9 nights

Your starting point is our base in Mountain Bike Park - Bike Hotel at Tourist Farm Koroš, a unique base for activities which take place in the surrounding forests and mountains. Naturally, the main attraction is the extensive network of waymarked and described trails and the last hit is the “underground biking” through an old mine in the length of 6 kilometres.

On the next day of this tour, you will be cycling between isolated farms in the Savinja Alps. Many bikers agree that this panoramic mountain road offers the most beautiful views in the Slovenian mountains. You will be cycling across the Karavanke Range (1,315 m) to Jezersko (880 m). Jezersko literally means "a place with a lake". When glacier melted after the last Ice Age, there was a large lake, whose remains you can still visit today.

From here, you will bike to the world-famous Bled (475 m) and its lake with an old church on the island in the middle. On the next day, you will continue from Bled to the Alpine resort of Kranjska Gora (810 m). The Vršič Pass (1,611 m) in the Triglav National Park is relatively low but the terrain is extremely steep due to its geological characteristics. Therefore the views from the road leading over the central parts of the Julian Alps are amazingly beautiful. The mountain road then descends in remarkable serpentines into the Alpine valley of Trenta.

The most renowned of the Slovenian Alpine rivers is the Soča and many people consider it the most beautiful river in Europe too. Its waters shimmer in unique emerald colour. You may take some time for sightseeing here, or  you can ride straight to Bovec (480 m) - a centre for adrenalin sports. It is known worldwide for the bloody battles of the Isonzo Front that took place here during World War I. In Kobarid (243 m), you will be able to learn much more about this valley's history in a museum, which was awarded the prestigious title ''European Museum of the Year''. From the Soča Valley, you will cycle back into the mountains and spend the night in a small mountain village called Sorica (820 m). On the next morning, you will continue down to the old cosmopolitan town of Škofja Loka (350 m). The road will lead you on across the flats of the the Ljubljana Basin to the historical town of Kamnik (390 m).

On the last day, you can cycle up to the Velika Planina (1,666 m) - you can use cableway for the ascent. The Velika Planina is a mountain plateau in the Kamnik Alps. It is an Alpine pasture with a number of herds and huts. From Velika Planina, you will ride back down to Kamnik.
